Unlike other dolomitic groups, the Sella isn’t typified by numerous pinnacles, needles and towers: it is somewhat reminiscent of a set of gigantic fortresses with extremely high walls characterized by a wide ledge which encircles the spectacular Sella Group.

The highest peak is Piz Boè at 3.152 m. and the group’s border is marked by the Sella Pass in the west, the Gardena Pass in the north, the Campolongo Pass and the Pordoi Pass in the east. These passes form a quadrangle around the Sella Group.

The Sella lies between the four Ladin valleys of Badia and Gardena in the north, the val di Fassa in the south and the Val Cordevole in the east . The Via delle Mesules, the Brigata Tridentina and the Piazzetta,( not easy, equipped trails: ropes and iron ladders) are a real attraction for mountain lovers:.
The Sella Group can be driven around by car crossing the Campolongo Pass, Pordoi Pass, Sella Pass and Gardena Pass.

It can also be easily reached by the Pordoi aerial tramway that arrives at 2.950 m above sea level. From here in less than an hour’s walk to the rif. Boè and then a quick walk to the homonymous sum the Via delle Mesules, the Brigata Tridentina and the Piazzetta mit.
