Excursions and climbs to discover Vigo di Fassa
Vigo is located on a broad terrace that dominates the rest of the valley. From this privileged position, the landscape is a spectacular sight: from Cima Undici and Cima Dodici as far as Marmolada.
This sunny locality is the ideal starting point for many hikes and climbs in the Catinaccio Group. A modern cable car, which leaves from the village, brings its users to Ciampedie , 1998 metres, in just a few minutes. The view from here is spectacular and the natural terrace lends itself to the contemplation of the surrounding Dolomites. But that’s not all! For family and kids there’s a paradise on earth……the Baby Park: suitable for kids of all ages where they can enjoy themselves in complete safety, thanks to the assistance provided by the Kinderpark Ciampedie Laurin.
The Ladin de Fascia Museum and the Ladin Cultural Institution are both in Vigo and well worth a visit. They have a fundamental role in preserving, studying, protecting and spreading the Ladin culture, traditions and uses.
Smaller villages, such as San Giovanni, Vallonga and Tamion, give testimony to Ladin architecture, as does Vigo, even though a fire in 1921 destroyed a great part of the village. On the hill, just on the edge of the woods, the church of St. Giuliana watches over Vigo di Fassa.
